Viktor Ivaniv
Viktor Ivaniv who is working in Kyiv now, lives in constant creative pursuit, searching for forms, colors, lines, and textures that express the state of his soul at the moment of creation. He finds inspiration in discovering the new — both within himself and within art.
Viktor Ivaniv was always interested in researching of Ukrainian traditions and finding new implementation techniques. In 1988 as a student at the Academy of Arts, he showed a strong sense of creative independence and a deep dedication to painting. His diploma work, "Christmas Eve Play", revealed artistic maturity and set the tone for his future path. The painting was stolen from the Academy shortly after its completion. At the time, it’s unlikely that a student could see the theft of a painting from the Academy merely as a sign of recognition or mastery. It could just as easily have been a shock, a personal blow — or even a warning not to continue. Many years later, the painting resurfaced in a private collection.
Viktor Ivaniv continued to work with dedication, constantly expanding his creative horizons. He loves the Sun and the Moon — their glow, their presence — and delights in portraying how the Sun embraces nature, or how the Moon gazes at its own reflection, whether in a lake or in the sea. A deep connection to Ukrainian culture, along with a strong individual voice, led to the creation of his “Huts” series. Every painting is filled with love — love for the world, and for the viewer.
His emotional energy pulses through the surface of his canvases, radiating harmony and inner light. According to the renowned art scholar, Dr. Svitlana Nychkalo, "he creates his own art, faithful to the voice of his soul — beyond trends or competition". Viktor Ivaniv has been an active participant in numerous landmark exhibitions, including the prestigious exhibition marking the 55th anniversary of the Kyiv branch of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (Mai 2025). His artworks are held in private collections across the globe.
