Olha Pinchak
Olha Pinchak (Jan 2024): "I am a Ukrainian and my world is embroidered with towel patterns, wrapped in the warmth of blankets, and warmed by the light of an Easter egg. I am looking at you through the lace of my mother's garden with blooming marigolds, poppies, dandelions and hollyhocks.
The war brought death and destruction to my land, uncertainty about the future. In such a difficult time, art heals me, helps me find that inner state of peace in the depths of my soul. I returned to the technique of gratage, which I used to “dabble” in as a child, and my favorite subjects based on Ukrainian folklore and traditions. It's strange, but the more terrible the events around us, the more I want to paint tenderness and warmth, perhaps with the hope of healing us all."
Olga Pinchak is a Ukrainian artist, graphic designer, painter, decorative textile artist, and teacher. She lives in Lviv, Ukraine now. Olha Pinchak combines the techniques of gratage, oil pastels, tempera in her graphic works, which creates unique author's style. She was born in 1986 in Kamianka-Buzka, Lviv region. She got her art education at famous Lviv Trush State College of Decorative and Applied Arts (2002-2006) and at the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2007-2012), where she graduated with honors. Olha Pinchak has participated in numerous exhibitions, the first one when she was 6 years old. Because of this, she knows how important it is to support children's interest in art. In 2016, she founded the children's art studio “Klubok Idey” in Lviv. This studio is currently working, enriching children from the age of 5 with goodness and hope, revealing to them the endless horizons of beauty in our world and helping them to depict this beauty. This studio is an oasis for children today, where reality is not filled with war.
Her work fascinates with the unburdened plot, the naturality of the events depicted, the calmness and gentleness of the scenes with flowers or birds, the warmth of the depiction of family relationships, the beauty and often mystery of landscapes. While looking at her paintings, it's easy to be amazed by their polyphony and rejoice that you have begun to recognize the artist's style and handwriting!
The painting "Easter Egg Painter" was purchased at a charity auction in Washington, D.C., during a charity event for American and Ukrainian Veterans.
Olga Pinchak's works are kept in private collections in Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Ukraine and the United States.
